Welcome to Edmonds Community College

Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees of Edmonds Community College is composed of five members appointed by the Governor. Each member serves a five-year term and must reside within the college's district boundaries.

The Board, on behalf of the citizens of College District #23, ensures the accountability of Edmonds Community College through:

  • Fulfillment of the College mission within the guidelines of College philosophy by means of the financial and human resources available
  • Promotion of appropriate activities, conditions and decisions
  • Scrupulous self-monitoring of its processes and performances
  • Assuring compliance with all applicable state and federal statutes

The Board holds a minimum of six regular meetings and four study sessions each year, held at the college on the second Thursday of each month, at 4:30 p.m., September through June.

MAURI MOORE

Career Notes:
Producer of Noticias Noroeste, a regional Spanish-language newscast, former Edmonds City Council member; Board Member of Edmonds Public Education Foundation; Served in a variety of capacities for Community Transit, Sound Transit, Public Education Foundation, Chapman Community Forum and the Northwest Center; Television news producer and Bureau Chief for NBC News - nominated for a national Emmy Award for her work in the Middle East; Named 2004 Most Distinguished Alumni by Antioch University, Seattle.
Education:
B.A. in Organizational Communications, Antioch University, Seattle.


RICHARD 'DICK' VAN HOLLEBEKE - Chair

Appointed 2005

Career Notes:
Owner of Van Hollebeke Insurance and Financial Services in Edmonds. Licensed stock broker, insurance agent, life underwriter and registered investment adviser. Former member of the Edmonds City Council. Former member of the Edmonds CC Foundation Board; past vice president. Ex-officio member of the Edmonds CC Foundation Board, serving as Trustee Liaison.
Education:
Attended Gonzaga University; was a member of the 1986 class of the American College.


JEANNETTE P. WOOD

Appointed October 2006

Career Notes:
Wood is a former state senator, 1995-1998, from the 21st Legislative District and state representative, 1988-1994, who served on the state’s Higher Education Committee. She was previously Mayor of Woodway, 1986-1988, and a Woodway Councilmember, 1980-1986. She also served on the Edmonds Community College Foundation board. She currently serves as president of the South County Senior Center Board and chair of the Edmonds Historical Museum Board. She also serves on an advisory board for the College of Human Ecology at her alma mater Cornell University.
Education:
Bachelor of Science, Cornell University, 1954.


QUENTIN POWERS - Vice Chair

Career Notes:
Powers is the Vice-President and General Auditor for Premera Blue Cross. He is a past board member and president for the Puget Sound chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He volunteers with Seattle Arts and Lectures and the INTIMAN, ACT and Empty Space Theatres. He is a past member of the Edmonds Community College Foundation Board.
Education:
Bachelor of Arts, English Literature, University of California at Santa Barbara, 1980. Business and accounting courses, Pasadena City College, California State University at Los Angeles 1984-86. Certified Public Accountant 1986.

Career Notes:
Director of Neighborhoods and Community Affairs, City of Lynnwood; former vice president and corporate grantmaker for the Community and External Affairs Division at Washington Mutual; managed a $28 million company giving campaign as campaign program manager for Microsoft and a $98 million United Way campaign as a loaned executive for SAFECO Insurance and served as a board member for the International District Housing Alliance, Seattle
